I love vintage decor. Junky, chippy, distressed things make me completely happy.
But my husband doesn’t love it quite as much so the entire house unfortunately can’t be taken over by old things. We’ve reached an eclectic compromise and I thought I’d share some of the ways I’ve added vintage decor into my home.
An old mirror hangs over the standard mirror in one of our bathrooms …
… cookbooks are nestled in an old locker basket in the kitchen …
… and a little vignette in the dining room holds vintage espresso spoons, an old keyhole plate, and vintage scrabble letters.
A few antiques are scattered throughout the house {like this old planter} and I regularly contemplate whether I should give them a little paint overhaul.
Some vintage treasures have been preserved, like this heirloom dress surrounded by baby photos of my girls in this shadowbox {you can see the story of this dress here}.
A few old windows are hung on walls or placed on mantels …
… and my girls sleep on distressed wooden bed frames.
In the family room, you’ll find a vintage suitcase with a torn shade, a ruler star, and a mailbox door from the first post office in Kalispell, Montana {one of my favorite gifts ever from the famous photographer}.
Pieces of old enamelware act as storage spots in the bathroom …
… a rusty metal chair provides a place to sit while I dry my hair …
… and a chippy old cabinet door leans against the mirror in the master bathroom.
A collection of vintage hand mirrors provides some interest on a bathroom wall …
… and my storage basics sit in a shabby old container in the kitchen.

I’ve started truncating my posts … please pop over to my blog to read the rest!
Oooh! I could look at these photos all day! I love how you make both of your preferences work in your house. That’s fantastic!
I love your incorporation of vintage decor Randi! I think my favorite is definitely the display in the shadowbox. I need to keep that in mind for Riley’s and Avery’s baptismal dress.
Such neat items! I especially love the long handled mirrors on the wall.
Nate Berkus (sp?) did a room reno once that displayed a vintage brush, mirror, etc. similar to your display above, but he photocopied old black and white family photos and adhered them to the underside of the mirror, brush, etc. It was beautifully done.
Vintage all the way, it never goes out of style. Love all your beautiful vintage treasures.
I love the little vintage tour of your home! I love everything! Love your vintage luggage vignette – I just posted about some vintage luggage I found last summer!
wow, what great touches. That buttery yellow metal box in the kitchen is so fun. I just ran across a chippy old red one like that at a garage sale the other day. I thought it was for aluminum foil and wax paper, etc. because of the serated edges. The lady tried to tell me it was for something else (I can’t remember at the moment) and she wanted a lot of money for it. I was tempted because it was so cool, but I had no where to put it. Glad you have a spot for yours. It looks so sweet with the jar of straws by it.
