A Torn Vintage Lampshade

If you saw my McKinney post a couple of weeks ago about my trip to adventure days, you saw the torn vintage lampshade that I loved.  We saw a number of them that day and I added it to my project list, knowing it would make great decor for my home.  There was something I loved about the shabby, unexpected look of the tattered, exposed shade.

I found a lampshade at Goodwill on the weekend {during my current thrifting jaunt} and tore it up yesterday, removing all the fabric from the sides of the shade and leaving only remnants on the top and bottom.  The exposed wires of the shade are now bare, giving it a very raw, eclectic, shabby look.

I’m still a bit unsure about where I’ll use the lampshade but for now it’s in my family room, sheltering my ruler star {that’s obviously no longer on top of my Christmas tree}, stacked on top of an old picnic basket and suitcase.  I like the rustic look atop the other vintage items.

Do you love the torn lampshade like I do or do you just think it’s tacky?  Would you tear up an old lampshade?

The lamp shade is definitely not my style but I think it’s cute and I can see why you like it.
