Super Buddies Super Hero Capes

These Super Buddies super hero capes are part of a sponsored post for Blueprint Social and Disney.

My three youngest kids love to watch a show and then scrounge around in our dress-up box, finding costumes so they can act out whatever they watched.  When we recently watched Disney Super Buddies {from the creators of Disney Buddies}, I knew they’d love to dress up like those adorable dogs so I surprised them with some Super Buddies capes.

My kiddos love the Disney Buddies movies and watch them over and over.  Super Buddies {available on a Blu-Ray Combo Pack August 27th} was no different.  They can’t resist those adorable pups!

Let me show you how I made these simple {and almost no-sew} super hero capes for my Super Buddies fans.  They couldn’t be easier. For each cape, you’ll need a piece of fleece the length of your child’s back.  Fold it in half and cut a shape like the one  you see below.  It doesn’t have to be perfect.  Fleece is forgiving and you can’t really mess it up even if your shape is a bit different.

Sew two pieces of velcro to the tabs that fit around the neck and the cape is finished.  See?  I told you it was super simple!

To make a B-Dawg mask {after all, as the Super Buddies will tell you, a super hero must always conceal his identity to protect the ones he loves}, I used a piece of leather-looking vinyl, cut it in a mask shape and cut out eye holes {hold it up to your child’s face to be sure the eyeholes are in the right spot}.  Edgestitch around the mask, catching the elastic {measured to fit your child’s head} at each side.

You can add a logo to the back of the cape {like I did on these orange capes} or leave them plain.

Either way, they’ll be a hit with your little super heroes!

To complete the Super Buddies costumes, you just need one more touch: glow stick necklaces to wear around their necks.

My little guys have had so much fun watching the movie and acting out Super Buddies …

… and you can get ready for an epic tail too!  Grab the Super Buddies movie on a Blu-Ray combo pack starting on August 27th and enjoy this funny and sweet story that’s perfect for the whole family!

My daughter loves trying on all of her regular clothes so I think when she gets a little older she will get a kick out of “playing dress up.”

My son is into capes and super heroes these days, and I KNOW my kids would both love Super Buddies – we’ve never watched it before. This would be perfect for family movie nights.
