A Simple Stitched Tag

I love finding cute ways to label baskets and buckets {and really, anything} in the house.  Buckets get washi tape numbers, baskets get stenciled labels, and gift baskets get string art tags.  And now, baskets full of books and toys are being labeled with a super cute, super simple stitched tag!

a simple stitched tag

To make this little tag, I used my cutting machine and the rhinestone feature.  I opened up a tag template, wrote the text, selected it, and used the rhinestone feature on linear fill.  The rhinestone feature creates holes along the text.

I had to experiment with different fonts to get a look that would work well with this feature but once I got it set, I cut it.

The small stitching holes had to be poked out but I was left with a perfect little stitchable tag.

Using blue embroidery thread {all six strands}, I stitched through the letters using a chain stitch.

I kept the beginning and end of the thread from pulling through the tag by taping it onto the back.

As easy as that.  The tag looks so cute hanging on a book bucket …

Wouldn’t this same idea be adorable as a gift tag?  You might be seeing that on the blog soon!
