My fall decor stays up until Thanksgiving before I transition into Christmas so I’m still in full fall crafting mode around here and this pumpkin chalkboard sign {repurposed from a thrifted mirror} is my latest project! I’ll use it as a place to post greetings in my fall decor and I may even write the Thanksgiving menu on it when the time comes. It’s quirky and fun and totally fits my upcycled, eclectic style!
To make this pumpkin chalkboard sign, I used a round framed mirror I found at the thrift store but a round picture frame would also work.
I separated the pieces and painted the frame with orange spray paint then brushed the mirror with chalkboard paint {for longevity, if you’re painting over a mirror or glass, you may want to prime first}. I painted both with a couple of coats to ensure they were completely covered.
Once fully dry, I put the pieces back together and used hot glue to attach a drawer knob onto the top. This little knob makes a perfect repurposed pumpkin stem!
I tied some coiled wire and fabric scraps around the stem {I do that on most pumpkin crafts because I think it adds a cute pop of color and texture} …
… seasoned the chalkboard by rubbing the side of the chalk all over it and then washing it off, then added a simple fall message to the chalkboard.
The end result is a whimsical, repurposed chalkboard that’s perfect for fall. You could even add a little Halloween message for trick or treaters and hang it on your front door!
