Repurposed Pot Lid Jack O’Lantern

The other day, I sat and stared at a box of pot lids in the thrift store, wondering what I could do with them when a fun upcycled idea for a Halloween decoration popped into my head.  This repurposed pot lid jack o’lantern is a unique and whimsical way to add a festive October touch to your home.

This funny little jack o’lantern started as an old pot lid with a perfect triangular handle just begging to be turned into a jack o’lantern nose.  If you can’t find a lid with a triangle handle, any shape would look super cute!

I taped off the handle and then spray painted the lid bright orange.

I distressed the edges a bit to give it a little more of a rustic appearance …

… then cut out a vinyl jack o’lantern face with my cutting machine.  I placed the vinyl eyes and mouth around the nose …

Unfortunately, I dropped the lid right after I finished it and broke off the corner of the nose so this little guy is now just a bit more whimsical {wink}.

My kids love this newest upcycled Halloween decoration and I think he’s pretty cute too!  For fifty cents and a short amount of time, this pot lid got a fun new life!  Would you make a pot lid jack o’lantern?

This is so cute, Randi! I need to get a Cricut or Silhouette so that I can make cute things like this. I see pot lids all the time at Goodwill and would love to make one of these. If I put it in my classroom, my kids would love it! Thanks so much for sharing this cute project at “Best of the Weekend.”
