Once September hits, I allow myself to officially think about fall. You too? I love fall: changing leaves, hot apple cider, plaid and pumpkins and lots of orange {wink}. And every season is perfect for upcycling, right? These light bulb pumpkins are a quick and simple project and they’ll add a fun touch of fall to your decor.
Start with two lightbulbs that have burned out. I used two different sizes but any light bulb will do, even an old Christmas light.
Use painters tape to tape off the metal part of the light bulbs then spray paint them orange. Want a spray painting tip? An old frappuccino lid makes the perfect mount for spray painting a light bulb. Just stick the bulb into the hole and the lid will hold it tight and upright while you spray paint all around it.
When the paint is dry {you may need a couple of coats to get good coverage}, remove the tape and tie twine or burlap around the stem.
Use vinyl cut with a cutting machine or by hand to add a little pumpkin face. I actually love the idea of leaving them faceless but, truthfully, it’s a bit hard to tell what they’re intended to be.
And there you have it. Some super easy fall decor and one less thing to throw in the garbage! They’d make cute place cards at a fall party {just add a name around the stem} or a fun hanging garland {a little wire twisted around the top will allow them to hang anywhere}.
However you choose to use these light bulb pumpkins, join me in embracing fall!

We don’t have many regular bulbs left in our house but I’ll have to buy some next year these are adorable.
