I have a special treat today if you’re looking for some Halloween craft ideas! I’m teaming up with some of my favorite bloggers for a fun Halloween craft blog tour. If you’re visiting from Sugar Bee Crafts, welcome! I’m so glad you’re here! I hope you’ll pull up a chair, pour a cup of coffee or tea, and hang around for a while. I have lots of ideas not only for Halloween but for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and every holiday in between! But before you wander away, let me show you the fun prick or treat Halloween cactus gift idea I made this week! After I made my daughter’s prick or treat cactus shirt earlier this month, I couldn’t resist whipping up another prick or treat idea. And it’s super simple and quick to make which is definitely my favorite kind of project!
All you’ll need for this fun prick or treat cactus gift is a real or faux pumpkin {I used a real one}, a small cactus, green cardstock, black and white baker’s twine, and a wooden skewer.
Using a knife or a pumpkin carving tool, cut a hole in the top of the pumpkin the same size as the top of the plastic pot the cactus sits in. Use a spoon to clean the insides out of the pumpkin and carefully slide the pot into the cut hole. {Don’t remove the cactus from its original pot … when Halloween is over you can simply slide it back out of the pumpkin and continue to enjoy the prickly little guy.}
If the pot slides too far into the pumpkin, stuff the pumpkin with crumpled paper towels or newspaper to hold it up a bit.
To make the prick or treat tag, you’ll need to cut a cactus shape from the green cardstock. I used my Cricut Maker to cut this cactus {and to print the text} but you can also cut it by hand and use a marker to write “prick or treat” onto the cactus.
Tie a little piece of twine onto one arm of the cactus {just because it looks cute!} …
… and hot glue a skewer onto the back of the paper cactus tag.
Stick it into the dirt and you have a super quick, super trendy Halloween gift idea for a friend!
It would also make a great party favor if you’re hosting a Halloween party this year!
