A Pillow Towel for the Beach or Pool

Does summer mean hours spent at the pool or the beach?  If so, you’ll love this simple, budget-friendly DIY project: a pillow towel that’s perfect for relaxing by the water!

a pillow towel for the beach

To make this pillow towel, you’ll need two large beach towels {I used cheap towels from Walmart} and a pillow form or fiberfill.  If you use a pillow form, a rectangle is preferable and you’ll want it as close to the width of your towels as possible.

With wrong sides of the towels together {so the towel pattern is showing on the front and back}, stitch the towels together along the top and both long sides.

Slide the pillow form or fiberfill up into the top of the towel until it’s flush against the top seam and, using a marking pencil, mark a straight line across the towel, right under the pillow.  Stitch across that line.

Simple as can be.  Just five minutes of sewing {perfect for a beginner} and you have a soft place to relax by the water.  You can lay your towel on top of a chaise or right on the sand and enjoy the warmth of the sun!  These would even make fun party favors for a pool party!

What’s your favorite place to lounge in the summer?
