Oilcloth Business Card Holder

In a quest to organize my purse a little better {and not have my business cards thrown loosely into purse pockets}, I decided to sew this simple oilcloth business card holder.  It holds a small stash of cards and can be placed in a pocket of my purse so I can quickly and easily find business cards when the need arises.  Want to make one too?  Let me show you how easy this ten minute craft is!

Oilcloth is one of my favorite fabrics.  I love that it has such fun patterns, is wipeable, and the edges won’t fray.

To make a business card holder, cut two pieces of oilcloth rectangles, four inches by three inches.  Cut another piece, contrasting if you like, four inches by 2 inches.

Place the two larger rectangles together with wrong sides together {so the pattern shows from both the front and the back} and place the contrasting piece of oilcloth in front, lined up along the bottom.

To hold the pieces in place for sewing, use a few pieces of washi tape along the edges.  You can use other clips as well {pins will mark the fabric} but I love washi tape because you can sew right over it and then rip it off after.  The seam will perforate it, making it really easy to remove.

Using matching or contrasting thread, stitch around the outside of the pieces, attaching them all together then remove the washi tape carefully so you don’t pull out the stitches.

Place your business cards inside and you’re ready for business!  This little oilcloth pocket will take just a few minutes to make but it’s the perfect way to organize your purse or work bag!

Very cute! I love oil cloth. I don’t have any biz cards at the moment but maybe I could find another reason to sew something oil cloth! Visiting from The Creative Collection.
