Monogrammed Duck Tape® Messenger Bag

This monogrammed Duck Tape messenger bag was created as part of a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walmart for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I’m such a huge Duck Tape® fan {and so are my kiddos} so I couldn’t resist buying a few new patterns when I was back-to-school shopping at Walmart this week.  Duck Brand Duck Tape® is such a versatile product and so easy to use … my kids are constantly crafting and creating with it.  I made a monogrammed Duck Tape® messenger bag for Lila to use and she loves it!  Let me show you how simple it was to make.

To make a Duck Tape® messenger bag, you’ll need rolls of Duck Brand Duck Tape® {I used a print for the outside and a solid for the inside flap}, a large mailing envelope, a sheet of Duck Tape® for the monogram, and magnetic squares to close the bag.  {You can find a huge selection of Duck Brand Duck Tape® in solids and prints at Walmart, as well as sheets of Duck Tape®.   I found them throughout the hardware/paint area and in the back-to-school and craft areas.}

To make your bag, cut the small envelope flap with the seal off, then cut a six-inch rectangle out of the back.  The remaining piece will fold over to become the flap of the bag.

Cover the inside of the flap with strips of solid Duck Tape® and trim the edges …

… then cover the entire outside of the envelope, front and back, with strips of Duck Tape®.   Trim around the edges and be sure the tape is pressed down completely.

To make the strap of the bag, measure the length you need for your child {it should fit across the chest and sit comfortably on the hip} and add the width of the flap.  Cut a strip of Duck Tape® that length then tear it lengthwise so you have a strip that is 3/4 of the regular width.  Cut another strip of Duck Tape® the same length {but full width}.  Attach them, sticky sides together, and fold the long edges of the wider piece over top of the thinner piece.  You’ll see the seams on the back of the strap …

Lay the strap across the inside of the flap and tape it into place {the ends of the strap will meet in the middle}.

Attach the magnetic squares to the flap and the main body of the bag …

… and add a fun monogram with the Duck Tape® sheet.  I cut this monogram on my Silhouette machine but you could cut it by hand or use a stencil as well.

That’s it!  Your little one will be styling on the first day of school with a monogrammed Duck Tape® messenger bag made with Duck Brand Duck Tape®!

Isn’t Duck Tape® the best stuff ever?  If you can rip and cut, you can create a personalized project that no one else will have!  Buy Duck Tape at Walmart and let your kids add their own special touch to their binders, pencils, and notebooks!

    I used to make lots of Duck Tape items, but I’ve never made a bag or thought to use a bubble mailer like that. Very cool! Pinning.

      One roll of duct tape will allow you to make at least two bags and possibly a bit more. Hope that helps! When you make them, share a picture with us on the Dukes and Duchesses facebook page!
