Girls Day Out Birthday Party

Last week we celebrated the sixth birthday of my youngest daughter.  This year we decided to do a small party with only a couple of close friends.  Tate loved the idea of having a girls day out birthday party and it ended up being really fun {not to mention super simple to pull off and relatively inexpensive}!

Before the party, we hung balloons and streamers inside the minivan and wrote fun messages all over the windows.  It was such a small detail but asking people to honk made our outing so much fun.  Lots of people honked and waved and one couple even rolled down their windows and hollered “happy birthday” at Tate!  It made Tate feel so special!

When the girls got in the car, they each had a gift box waiting in their seat.  The boxes held gumball necklaces with monogrammed edible pendants and the girls loved them!  They put them on right away and nibbled at the gumballs throughout the party.

Starbucks was the first stop in the girls day out.  I was hoping mini frappuccinos were still available but since they weren’t we bought tall frappuccinos in non-coffee flavors and had a little girl time in the coffee shop.  The pink and purple drinks fit right in with our girly day!

Next up: a little glam.  I had made a reservation for the girls at a local nail salon.  The salon is really classy inside and looks very high end but they do children’s manicures for only $10.  The girls chose their nail colors, sat in chairs together, and each had a perfect little pampering manicure!  The manicure was a total highlight for Tate!

I had thought about taking the girls to a little tearoom or a girly spot for lunch but nothing near us was open at the time so we had a backyard picnic instead.  I draped tulle from a tree and used nails {like tent pegs} to hold it in the ground to form a little canopy.  Pink and gold balloons {the party colors} hung down inside.

I laid a white tablecloth covered in faux flower petals under the canopy and served lunch from an old picnic basket.

The girls dined off pink plates with glitter utensils, ate some of Tate’s favorites {chicken salad on croissants, cheese and crackers, and grapes}, and drank bright pink soda with paper straws.

When stomachs were full, the girls had fun posing in our homemade photo booth with props I found online and printed then attached to paper straws.  We ended up capturing some really fun poses and have such cute souvenirs from the day!

No party is complete without cake.  The girls enjoyed mini bundt cakes …

We delivered the girls home after the party with gold glam goody bags in hand.  I added pink vinyl monograms to each one …

This girls day out birthday party was one of the simplest parties I’ve ever planned and the girls had such a great time!

Have you ever had a girls day out party?

What a fun party Randi! I want to do this for my birthday next year, mmkay? It’s not until July, so you’ve got plenty of time to plan 😉 Happy Birthday Tate!!!

So reminds me of the days when I would do themed birthday parties for my son. You did a great job. What is the theme for 7?

Such a fun birthday experience! I didn’t know you could get frappuccinos in non-coffee flavors! Will definitely have to try that!!
