Our Disney Planes family movie night is part of a sponsored post for Collective Bias® and their client.  This post contains affiliate links.

My kids have been begging for a family movie night so the release of Disney Planes on DVD and Blu-Ray was the perfect prompt for me to set a date for some fun family time!  I planned a few creative ideas to make the evening special and then we grabbed cozy blankets and pillows and gathered in the family room for a Disney Planes family movie night!

I can’t have a family night without bringing a bit of theme into it and adding a few fun touches made the night feel a bit more special.

I covered our kitchen table with a black disposable tablecloth and added masking tape runway lines, something that took five minutes but added a fun factor to the evening.  The kids loved the look of it!

I love the bright colors in the movie so I added a few bright touches to our table: a plastic Coke crate to hold water bottles, bright red plates, and red striped paper straws {because no party is complete without cute straws} …

… along with a Planes-themed balloon that I grabbed at Walmart when I bought our snack ingredients.  A themed family night can be simple but still feel special by adding items found around the house.

I love themed snacks so I used a large plane-shaped cookie cutter to cut airplanes out of refrigerated pizza dough …

… and let the kids top them with cheese and then baked them in the oven.

I also cut plane shapes from refrigerated sugar cookie dough …

… and the kids decorated them with colored sugar sprinkles before we baked them for a mid-movie treat.

And then it was time for the highlight of the evening: an entertaining family viewing of Disney Planes!  Luke saw the Planes movie when it was in theaters {and couldn’t wait to see it again} but this was the first viewing for the rest of us and we were all really looking forward to it.

Disney Planes

We fell in love with the characters and completely enjoyed the movie and its message of courage.  It’s our hope that our children will be courageous in all things so I always love movies that portray character traits we’re attempting to instill and I love it when Disney values reflect our family values.

Have you seen Disney Planes?  Now’s the time: own it on Blu-Ray Combo Pack and Digital HD on November 19th!

I’ve had that cookie cutter for years and I have no idea where I got it … probably somewhere online. Sorry I can’t help more!
