Ford provided the vehicle for this drive in movie post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
My baby just turned nine and we had a fun party idea for her golden birthday: a drive in movie party! We filled the back of a truck with blankets and pillows, threw in a few decorations and a bunch of snacks, added a handful of friends, and celebrated in style! This party was the best combination: easy to plan and execute with a big fun factor for the kiddos.
Drive in movies seem to be making a comeback, at least in our part of the world, and a drive in theater recently opened near us. Drive in movies are fun in any vehicle {you can always sit in lawn chairs outside the car} but we were pretty pumped to be able to take the Ford F-150 King Ranch to the movies! Sitting in the back of a truck takes a drive in movie to the next level!
We backed the truck up so the kids could sit in the back and see the screen …
… or even sit inside and view the screen through the sliding back window. The SuperCrew cab provided plenty of room for kiddos to get comfortable!
The sound in the truck was amazing! The 2018 Ford F-150 is the first Ford vehicle in the United States to feature a premium B&O PLAY audio system. With ten speakers, the audio system is top notch!
To decorate for the party, I spread a sleeping bag across the bed of the truck and added red and gold party decor.
I hung some decorations across the back window and lined the back of the bed with pillows so the girls could lean back to watch the movie.
I bought cozy blankets for each of the girls …
… and made simple tags for them.
The girls used the blankets during the party and then took them home as a party favor at the end of the night.
Popcorn and drinks are always a must at the movies. Dollar store popcorn containers …
… and metallic gold star-topped straws added a fun element to the party.
And, of course, you have to have candy! We set out a little concession stand full of treats that the girls could choose from.
Since the movie would be taking place after dark, we brought glow sticks to light things up a bit. {They also provide some entertainment while you wait for the movie to start!}
The entire party was so simple, took just minutes to set up, and looked so festive!
The kids used the tailgate step to climb in and out of the truck {such an awesome feature, especially when I was climbing up and down to set up!} …
… and made themselves comfortable!
I made myself comfortable too … with ventilated massage seats {seriously my dream in a vehicle!} in the front. I may have considered moving my office to the Ford a few times during the week just to take advantage of those seats {wink}. And with the WiFi hotspot, it would totally work!
I can’t wait to go back to the drive in … but I think we’ve been spoiled and will need a Ford F-150 King Ranch next time too!
