DIY Soccer Mom Shirt

Ford provided the vehicle for this post.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.  This post contains affiliate links.

I’m a total soccer mom. And a basketball mom … and currently, a volleyball mom.  But year round, I’m most definitely a soccer mom.  My middle daughter plays club soccer so we’re at practices, games, and tournaments every single week, all year round.  And I love every minute of it!  I decided it was time to show a little spirit with a DIY soccer mom shirt for game days!

This year, in addition to the competitive local league that Lila’s team plays in, we’re also playing in a national premier league.  With that comes some travel and a few weekends ago we packed up and drove from Dallas, through Oklahoma, and through much of Arkansas, taking in the hills and valleys in the Ford Expedition Max XLT.  And I decided the 2018 Ford Expedition Max XLT is the perfect vehicle for the soccer mom … and the whole soccer family.

With the panoramic vista roof allowing a fresh view of the surrounding scenery {the scenery in Arkansas is beautiful!} and the interior providing both comfort and a lot of room {plenty of room for my kiddos plus some extra team-mates} …

… we had a comfortable, easy trip through three states.  The Ford Expedition handled perfectly in regular conditions and in a downpour and with three-point safety belts at every seat, dual-stage front airbags and side impact airbags, I felt safe in every situation.

I love the cargo space in the Ford Expedition.  At a minimum, we’re toting chairs, umbrellas, and soccer gear.  When we’re heading out of town we have all the extras: duffel bags, coolers full of snacks for the hotel room, bags full of board games, and extra uniforms and cleats.  With all seats in place, we had plenty of room for all our things but for a bigger load, the seats easily fold down providing piles of extra space for luggage or large items that need transporting.  {And in my DIY world, I often find something big that needs transporting!}

USB ports throughout the vehicle make traveling with a family a whole lot simpler.  With cell phones, iPads, tablets, and laptops, there’s always something that needs to be charged.  The Ford Expedition is actually a dream for on-the-road travel.  With Wi-Fi Hotspot, the kids can tackle school work while on the road … which might not be a selling point for them {wink}.

Driving through Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas, we hit a variety of weather conditions, from rain to heat to cold.  Outside the vehicle, the weather was confusing but we were perfectly comfortable inside.  With dual zone electronic automatic temperature control and rear climate control, I kept the air conditioning on low in my space while the kids kept theirs at whatever temperature they wanted.  I love NOT fighting over temperature controls while on a trip.  And I absolutely loved having cooled seats.  They were a complete favorite not only on our road trip but after I worked out every day and drove home completely hot and sweaty.  Cooling seats are a game changer!

I really valued the gas mileage we got with the Ford Expedition.  We drove a whole lot of miles in one weekend and the Auto Start-Stop Technology definitely saved us money.  And the large gas tank {bigger than my mini van} meant we didn’t have to stop often to refill.

And one of my favorite mom features?  The Ford Expedition Max XLT has fifteen cupholders!  When you have a large family and often trek other kids around as well, having a pile of cupholders is so convenient … and clearly I’m not the only one that feels that way since all those cupholders are a standard feature!

We traveled all over the state of Arkansas in style and we cheered our team on in style too!  I’m not necessarily an over-the-top soccer mom but I am my daughter’s biggest fan and I love to cheer her on from the sidelines.  If you love cheering on your athlete, you can use this hashtag soccer mom file I created in Cricut Design Space to make your own soccer mom shirt!

To make one, you’ll need a shirt in a solid color and black iron-on heat transfer.
