DIY Wedding Ideas

These DIY wedding ideas were created as part of a sponsored post for Market Street.  All opinions are my own.  This post contains affiliate links.

Wedding season is coming up and I’ve been seeing wedding ideas springing up all over.  Maybe because I have three girls, I love the idea of a budget-friendly wedding with lots of meaningful creative details.  I have a few DIY wedding ideas to share with you to add a personal touch to your wedding.  And the best part?  You can create these wedding projects with a trip to Market Street {and maybe a couple of extra supplies from the craft closet}.

DIY wedding ideas

Market Street is the perfect stop for wedding or bridal shower preparations.  This guide, found in the floral department at my Market Street store, is a great resource for planning the details of a wedding.

There are so many details to consider and so many decisions to make when it comes to wedding time.  From the first view of your wedding that guests get when they receive your save the date card to the last minutes of the reception, your wedding should show your personality, regardless of your budget.

I wandered around Market Street and came up with some great ideas for wedding decor on a budget.  And if you don’t have a budget?  Go all out!  The floral department has gorgeous birdcages that would make amazing centerpieces, stunning flowers for bouquets, and beautiful items in the gift department that would add flair to any wedding.

I bought three different bouquets and mixed them together to create a rustic wedding centerpiece, perfect for an outdoor or barn wedding.  {From those three bouquets I could make at least three centerpieces.}  Start with a large, wide-mouth mason jar and place a thin vase inside.  This idea works best if both items are the same height but it will also work if one is a little taller.

Add water to both receptacles then place sliced lemons {any citrus fruit would be lovely} between the jar and the vase and wrap a piece of burlap ribbon around the outside.

Add flowers, staggering them at different heights and adding some leaves for contrast.  I chose gorgeous sunflowers as the star of this centerpiece because they go so well with a rustic theme but they also add such a bright touch.

Simple, right?  Just a few steps to a beautiful centerpiece.  And since the lemon slices will last in the water for a few days, these wedding centerpieces can be made a few days ahead of the wedding.

If you’re not up to making your own centerpieces, you can schedule a consultation with the floral specialists at Market Street and let the professionals take over.

But if you’re still ready to DIY your wedding, let’s talk dessert.  Market Street can provide you with the most gorgeous wedding cake {I saw a beautiful one decorated with succulents} or groom’s cake or you can do something a little different and create a dessert bar for your guests.

Visit the Market Street bakery and select a variety of desserts: small cupcakes, delicious truffles, miniature cakes, and pretty cookies.  Display them on different levels of platters and cake stands and add small burlap flags attached to toothpicks …

Want a couple more ideas?

Create a take-home favor for wedding guests.  Simply grab some chocolate covered almonds or another favorite candy from the bulk bins and package them in cute containers and wrap with burlap.  A simple tag will complete the favor.

One more sweet idea: use the remains of the bouquets from the centerpieces and wrap them in burlap ribbon to create simple posies for the flower girls or small boutonnieres for the groomsmen.

With a few simple DIY wedding ideas, a wedding day can be a gorgeous, personal affair that won’t leave the bank account empty.
