Orange Infused Sugar

Infused sugars are a great last-minute hostess gift idea or a sweet {pun intended} favor for an adult gathering.  And they couldn’t be easier {or more affordable} to make!  This orange infused sugar can be whipped up in less than five minutes and the subtle orange taste is a delight!

orange infused sugar

To make one small jar, measure 1/2 cup sugar into a bowl.  I love the look {and taste} of raw sugar but regular white granulated sugar also works just as well.  Add 1/2-1 teaspoon of orange extract, depending how strong you want the flavor, and mix well with a fork or spoon.  Toss the sugar to get the extract mixed throughout.

Package the sugar in a small mason jar or container and add something cute to the top.  A cupcake wrapper is a really simple way to brighten up a jar and can be tied on with a piece of colored twine or ribbon.  {If it slips while you’re trying to tie it on, add a small piece of double sided tape to the inside.}

Add a label {or not} and you have a simple gift to take to the hostess at your next dinner party.  Orange infused sugar can be used as a substitute for regular sugar in baking {imagine a subtle orange flavor added to fudgy chocolate brownies or shortbread} or as a citrus-y way to sweeten a cup of tea.

And who can resist a cute little jar of anything?
