My girls absolutely adore llamas! They have llama socks, llama blankets, llama wall art, llama note pads … the entire llama trend has exploded within the four walls of their rooms! They also love bath bombs so it only made sense to combine the two and make a batch of adorable DIY llama fizzing bath bombs! These bath bombs are so easy to make and they’re perfect for gift giving … or just stashing for your own personal bath time! And there’s even a free printable so you can also gift them for Valentine’s Day!
You may remember the pumpkin fizzing bath bombs I made for Halloween last fall. These are made in exactly the same way.
Supplies for Homemade Bath Bombs
To make homemade fizzing bath bombs, you’ll need
1 cup baking soda
1/2 cup citric acid
1/2 cup epsom salts
1/2 cup cornstarch, and
2 tablespoons liquid coconut oil.
How to Color and Scent Homemade Bath Bombs
You’ll also need a couple of other items to color and scent the bath bombs, and molds to shape them.
For these llama bath bombs, I used
pink gel-based food coloring, and
10-15 drops of grapefruit essential oil.
I love fruity and citrus scents but you can obviously use any scent you like.
You can also use any color. I used pale pink because that’s what my girls wanted but white or even blue would be fun for a llama.
To shape and hold the bath bombs, I used plastic ornaments.
You can also use plastic disposable gloves, if desired, to mix the ingredients together. I keep these gloves in my pantry all the time and use them for all kinds of messy kitchen jobs like mixing meatloaf or cleaning really greasy pans.
How to Make Homemade Bath Bombs
In a large bowl, combine the baking soda, citric acid, epsom salts, and cornstarch and use a fork to mix them well.
In a small bowl or ramekin, combine the coconut oil and essential oils then mix into the dry ingredients, using gloved hands. Add gel food coloring or paste coloring to achieve the desired color, squeezing it into the mixture to combine well.
When the mixture is combined well and holds its shape when squeezed together in your hands, fill the ornaments to overflowing and then squeeze the two sides together, pressing out any extra but making sure the ornament is filled as tightly as can be with the bath bomb mixture. You don’t want any air pockets left inside or the bath bombs won’t hold their shape after they’re dry.
To turn the bath bombs from regular bombs to llama bath bombs, you’ll need to use your Cricut Maker or other cutting machine.
Cricut Design Space has a lot of really cute llama face options. If you’re using other software, you’ll have to search to see what’s available.
{If you don’t have a cutting machine, you can add a twist to this project and use a silicon llama mold instead.}
Using vinyl in colors of your choice, cut the design and use transfer paper to apply the llama image to the front of the bath bomb.
In just a few minutes, you have adorable, totally on-trend bath bombs for your kiddos …
… or gifts for friends!
Who wouldn’t love to relax in a bathtub with a scented bath bomb fizzing in the water?
