Who loves the movie, Grease, as much as I do?  Truthfully, the premise behind the movie actually bugs me {changing who you are to attract someone else??} but the music can’t be beat and I can probably sing the entire soundtrack by heart.  The other day I got a song stuck in my head and I just knew the lines would pair perfectly with a llama to make a best friends llama shirt made with the all-new {and all-fabulous!} Cricut Patterned Iron On!  Be warned: you’re about to have this song stuck in your head too!

You know the song, right?  We go together like rama lama lama ka dinga da dinga dong …

I just had to change the spelling to llama and stick it on tees for my girls … because I’m hoping that they’ll always think they go together and be best friends for life!

And what better way to create a cute shirt than with the new Patterned Iron On from Cricut?  Cricut just recently revealed this new product and there are currently nine sampler packs available on the Cricut website.  The packages come with three coordinating 12×17 inch sheets that can be mixed and matched for unique, one of a kind projects!  Is your mind already swimming with awesome ideas?  This Patterned Iron On is the perfect way to embellish and decorate shirts, hoodies, onesies, pillows, and tote bags.  Awesome, right?

I chose this black and white trio because I loved the stark contrast and knew the geometric patterns would look great against colorful shirts.

I grabbed a couple of shirts for my girls at Walmart {they sell the cheapest shirts and they’re always available in seasonal colors and are perfect for embellishing} …

… and then created the design in Cricut Design Space.  I saved it so you can create a cute llama shirt too without having to design it yourself.

This design cuts in three different stages so you can take advantage of the three different patterns in each package.  Choose one pattern for the text, one for the llama, and one for his little saddle.

When you prepare to cut, you’ll select Patterned Iron On as the material and don’t forget to mirror the images so it’ll cut properly.

Place the Patterned Iron On face down on the light grip mat and cut.  The Patterned Iron On cuts like butter!  I was so impressed with how smoothly and easily it cut on my Cricut Maker.

I weeded away all the negative space {the Cricut BrightPad makes weeding SO much easier especially when you’re working with small lines on vinyl or Iron On} …

… and then the design was ready to apply to the shirts.

I applied it in stages: the text first {so I could get it lined up properly}, then the llama, then the saddle.

how to apply patterned iron on

To apply the Patterned Iron On, I used the Cricut EasyPress.  I love this tool and have had total success with Iron On since I started using it!

I preheated the EasyPress to 340 degrees {the Cricut button on the right will turn green once it’s preheated} …

… and got ready to press!

The EasyPress Mat creates a great surface for pressing and is definitely a wish list item if you’ve got the Cricut EasyPress.

Applying the design is simple.  Preheat the area where you’ll place the image for 5-10 seconds.

Set the EasyPress to 340 degrees and set the timer for 50 seconds.  Place the image on the shirt, apply the EasyPress with firm pressure, and start the timer.

Repeat on the back of the garment but only for 15 seconds.

Let it cool completely then peel it off.  Don’t peel it while it’s still warm!

If you’re using an iron instead of the EasyPress, preheat the shirt for 5-10 seconds, apply firm pressure on the iron {cotton setting} for 50 seconds on the front of the shirt and 15 seconds on the back.  Then peel when cool.

So simple and look how cute these best friends shirts are!

Thank you for a huge giveaway! I can’t wait to see if I win. My husband and I have started a wood business and I can honestly say, the items up for a giveaway would be a dream come true for us! We are very low on income so it helps support my two babies and our lives. Thank you for the opportunity!
