Colorful Cactus Party Ideas

This cactus party was created in collaboration with Oriental Trading.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.  This post contains affiliate links.

We’re on summer break and we’re busy planning a summer full of fun … and that always includes a party or two, usually for no particular reason.  These colorful cactus party ideas are fun and festive and perfect for a pool party or a summer fiesta!  With a few creative DIY details, like cactus cupcakes and cactus snack cups, this party has a crafty element that adds a special tone.

I love color so I paired the green cacti tones with bright pink, inspired by the flowers that sometimes sit on top of the prickly plants.  The two colors look so good together and give the party a bit of a preppy style.

I set this party up on a bar cart, one of my favorite ways to display snacks and drinks.  It’s a cute way to keep everything together, can be moved wherever you need to go, and the different tiers look so cute.  This white bar cart is so versatile for any party theme and it folds up when it’s not in use, making it the perfect party accessory.

I draped a pink fringed garland on the wall behind the bar cart and placed a cactus garland over top.  Garlands and backdrops are such a simple way to add color and texture to a party table.  If you need some cute DIY ideas for a backdrop, be sure to check out the ombre party backdrop I made from plastic tablecloths and the colorful backdrop made with paper plates.

Snacks are a must at any party and snack mixes are so easy to make.  I made some homemade microwave popcorn and added some favorite candies to it then served the mix in DIY cactus snack cups.

DIY cactus cups

These cactus snack cups are super easy to make!  Simply cut cactus shaped arms out of green cardstock {I used my Cricut Maker to cut these but you can freehand them if you don’t have a cutting machine} and hot glue the arms onto the side of green paper cups.

Colorful candies are a great way to fill space on the bar cart and provide extra treats.  I stuck these green swirl lollipops into a mason jar filled with green candy-coated chocolates to add some additional color.

I’m a bit smitten with these little individual mini cactus pinatas and whether you’re using them for cute decor or as a party activity, they’re a win.

This cactus drink dispenser is about the cutest thing ever, don’t you think?  I love that it fits the theme so perfectly but also adds such a fun component to the party cart.

Fill it up with a favorite punch …

Pink and green paper straws are the perfect final touch.

As they say, a party without cake is just a meeting and a cactus party demands cute cactus cupcakes.  Fortunately, these ones are really easy to make.
