Chalkboard Paint Lunchbox Notes

Do you like to leave little notes in your kids’ lunchboxes?  I do.  I even sneak them into the lunches of my big kids sometimes.  This year I decided to try something a bit different and I created these chalkboard paint lunchbox notes.

I bought a variety of lunch box containers in different sizes and painted the lids of them with chalkboard paint.  I added a few coats so the paint won’t scratch off.

That way, when I’m packing lunches for the little guys, I can scribble a quick note to them.  {I’ll probably use chalk pens instead of regular chalk to give it a little staying power.}

On the small containers, I just painted little squares …

… so I can label their food or leave a fun note or a smiley face.

And I even painted a little swoosh inside their lunch bags for a tiny message that they’ll see as soon as they open up the bag.

The lids of these lunchbox containers will have to be washed by hand but they’ll be a fun way to send lunchbox notes to school with the kiddos each day!

    I love this idea!!! Can you still run the sandwich boxes through the dishwasher with the chalkboard paint on them?

      Sarah, you can. I’m sure it’s not recommended but I’ve done it with other dishes many times. I have one cup that’s been going through the dishwasher for at least ten years and the paint is still intact! If it does start to peel off, I’ll just repaint it.

      I used liquid for this project … you can find it in with all the craft paint at any large craft store.
