From store apps to online video courses to inspirational apps for brainstorming, there are great resources that are designed to boost creativity. Check out a few of my favorite awesome apps for creatives {along with a really great way for the 55+ crowd to embrace technology} and then be sure to tell me your favorite creative apps!
Before I share the apps, I want to make sure you know about the Verizon 55 program!
Verizon 55 Program
Technology can be tricky for those that didn’t grow up with it but it can really enhance your life if you know how to use technology to its full potential. Last month, Verizon hosted a workshop for the 55+ crowd, sharing some really fabulous ideas for enhancing productivity using your smart phone. You may have missed the workshop but good news: in Dallas, Houston, and a handful of other areas in the country, the 55+ crowd is eligible for a really great smart phone plan.
If you’re 55 or older, be sure to check out Verizon’s 55 Plus Plan, a special offer just for this age group! You can carry one or two lines on this plan and can save up to $50 a month on America’s most reliable network! Just click on the link above to find out if you’re eligible.
Now, ready to check out some creative apps you can download on your smart phone or tablet?
Awesome Apps for Creatives

If you ever need some help brainstorming, Brainsparker is the perfect app. The app’s random prompt cards help boost creative thinking, spark fresh ideas, and inspire creative thinking. Whether you’re a writer, an artist, or a blogger, this free app will help you come up with a pile of new and fresh ideas! The app allows you shuffle cards then tap the screen to reveal a random prompt from a pack of over 250 creative prompt cards, sparking new ideas and helping to unblock the creative mind.
Craftsy {free but there is a subscription fee for classes}
The Craftsy app allows you to choose from more than five hundred online video courses and then take the course anywhere you want, right from your device! Planning a trip to the beach or holing up in a cabin somewhere? Take along some craft supplies and the Craftsy app and learn a new skill while you relax!
Bluprint {free but there is a subscription fee for classes}
Whether you want to start a new hobby, advance a current skill, or make something fabulous, the Bluprint app will deliver inspiration, learning, and entertainment and provide step-by-step tutorials and patterns all in one place. The app allows a 24 hour trial period and then a monthly subscription fee will begin {however, the monthly subscription fee is super reasonable and definitely worth the price}.
TapPainter {free}
Are you more of a home decor creative than a crafter? Thinking about updating your home decor and painting some walls? Are you scared to take a risk with bright colors or something really different from your current paint? TapPainter allows you to explore colors before you paint. You simply upload a photo of your space and TapPainter lets you visualize your space in new colors, even accommodating for natural lighting conditions so you can truly tell how the new color will look in your home.
Pinterest {free}
Many of you probably use Pinterest on your desktop but did you know there’s an app as well? The app allows you to find and keep your favorite ideas close at hand on your mobile device. Now when you decide to finally try that project or recipe, you’ll be able to pull it up at the store and grab exactly what you need!
Craft Stores {free}
Many of your favorite craft and fabric stores have apps and they’re the perfect way to check out sales, find coupons to save on purchases, browse weekly and even scan items in the store to check prices. If you shop regularly at a local craft store, be sure to check out the app store to see if an app is available.
Do you use apps regularly? I’d love to hear how you blend technology with your creative side!
