A Snowman Table Setting

Today I want to share a simple Christmas tablescape idea for the kids: a snowman table setting!  I used this idea for the kids’ table at last year’s Christmas dinner and they loved it.  It was quick to put together and used supplies I already had in my kitchen, which made it the perfect tablescape for the holidays!  It’s an easy way to add a bit of magic and fun to the holiday table without buying new dishes for the holiday.

To make this snowman table setting, build the snowman body out of two different sized white plates {a dinner plate and a salad plate work well but you could also use a saucer for the smaller plate}.

Add a fork and spoon to create silverware arms then add a square cloth or dinner-sized paper napkin in any color to create the hat.

Place a knife at the bottom of the hat to create the brim.  If you’re creating this table for young children, you can obviously leave the knife out.

Finish the snowman place setting by adding the small details like a napkin scarf and a face made out of raisins and carrots {brown M&M’s would be more fun for the eyes but we didn’t have any}.  If you want, you can also add candy buttons to the larger plate.

If you’d rather not use food to create the details, you could also use edible markers to draw them on.

I covered the table with a white tablecloth and sprinkled the table with metal snowflake confetti to add more of a winter effect.  You could use a snowflake punch to create similar paper snowflakes.

The kids loved dining in their wintry wonderland tablescape.

Transforming plates into seasonal decor is so simple and fun and is a really great way to add a magical touch to the holiday season and create something the kids will always remember!

What fun ideas do you have for a holiday tablescape?
