Magnetic Prayer Board

I’ve wanted, for a while, to have a prayer board or a central location in our home where we can keep track of people and situations for which we’re praying.  It would serve as a reminder to pray and would also ensure that we’re all praying individually for the same things.  This magnetic prayer board is the perfect solution!

magnetic prayer board

I’ve had a metal board in my closet for quite some time, purchased at a local craft store.  At various times I’ve pondered giving it away since I had no plans for it but recently I decided it would make a great prayer board.  And it was a perfect fit on a narrow kitchen wall leading to the butler’s pantry.

This project ended up being simpler that I first imagined.  I decided not to paint the board since I liked the way it looked against our tea-stained kitchen walls.

I cut the word “pray” from black vinyl {using my cutting machine}, hung the board on the wall, and added a few prayer reminders {the prayer reminders are written on square pieces of patterned paper and attached with magnetic tape so they can be easily changed, added, and removed}.

I’m looking forward to being much more deliberate about praying through things with my children and I look forward to seeing their faith grow as God hears and answers those prayers.

It looks like it was made for the space…nice idea!
FYI….I put a packet in the mail for you yesterday. It usually takes 7-10 days for things to arrive in the States, so be on the look-out for it. You MUST blog about whatever you do with the newspaper..I’m so curious. Hope you enjoy the ‘extras.’

Gosh, I don’t know why none of us have ever thought of that idea, my Bible is full of prayer requests and now I can make a prayer board and stick them up there for all to see, instead of just me. Mel’s Cabin visited your post today.

I love this idea! I always say I will pray for people only to get overwhelmed and forget who I said I was going to pray for. I know God knows my heart. AMEN.

I adore this idea! Sometimes its so hard to remember all of the things/people that I want to pray for. I feel like it would also really help my hubby and I to stay on the same page for what we as a family are praying for. Thank you so much for sharing!

What a great idea! It’s often easy to say you will pray for someone, but more difficult to remember to actually do it.

I just popped over here from Salvage Savvy and am sooooo glad that I did! So many great ideas…Love your blog. Thanks for the idea and I was trying to find a post that explained your “tea stained walls.” I have a single textured wall in my white living room and would love to add some color and depth to it this way. Please post about it. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing this neat idea! I don’t have a metal board, but I’m sure I’ve got ‘something’ in my crafting stash that I could make do for creating this. I am better than I used to be about not committing to pray unless I’m ‘really’ going to pray. It’s so easy to respond to a need with “I’ll pray for you”, and equally as easy to forget all about it if it’s for someone you don’t see or talk to regularly. I’m going to make a prayer board to hang above my computer desk.

    PS-I landed here via Pinterest!

My daughter and I made ours last night. Our girls take turns praying at our evening meal and often complain that they don’t know what to pray for… this solves our issue! It will be a great reminder to help us know what can be prayed for, not only at dinner but anytime we use our dining room. I took an “oil drip pan” that is magnetic ($9 bucks in the automotive section at Wal-Mart) and added a cute PRAY heading and then put two smaller headings for “thanks” and “requests”. We will write our thanks/praises and our requests down on paper cards and put up with magnet strips… like you. Thanks for the inspiration!

I found it in with all of the regular metal signs but it was quite some time ago and they may not have them now. Could you use one of the signs with words and paint over it or are all the letters raised?
