A Hot Cocoa Party

The day arrived with a cold, wintry forecast which was just perfect for a hot cocoa party with our friends. A hot cocoa party is my favorite way to entertain friends in the winter months.  It’s super simple and it’s so easy to add one fun detail, like these marshmallow snowmen, and add a fun whimsical touch to the party.

marshmallow snowmen for hot cocoa party

For this hot cocoa party, I set out bowls of delicious mini muffins and oranges, made a big pot of hot cocoa on the stovetop {easy to serve with a large ladle}, and laid out self-serve toppings for the cocoa: marshmallow snowmen, whip cream, vanilla sipping straws, crushed peppermint candies, and snowflake-shaped marshmallows.

These marshmallow snowmen are so simple to make.  Simply place three marshmallows on a skewer, add pretzel arms, a hershey’s kiss hat, a fruit leather scarf, and use edible markers to create eyes and buttons.  Watch the video below for the quick and easy tutorial I shared as a hangout on google plus.

That is such a great idea. What did you use for the scarves on the marshmallow snowmen?

Those were carried at Target one year. I hope they bring them back … they’re so cute!

The marshmallows are stuck onto a skewer. The hats are Hershey’s Kisses. The faces are made with food coloring dabbed on with a toothpick, and the scarves are fruit roll-ups.

The scarves look like fruit rollups. Not sure what she used for the snowman’s buttons.
