A Gratitude Plate

A few weeks ago I was pondering a new gratitude idea for Thanksgiving and I came up with this embellished wipeable gratitude plate, a simple way for our family to record things that we’re thankful for throughout the month of November as Thanksgiving draws near.

wipeable gratitude plate

In the past, we’ve had a gratitude tree and a gratitude jar but this year we’ll write our thoughts of gratitude on this large plate embellished with vinyl.

I used a regular serving plate from my collection and added some text to the middle.  I used a downloaded image and used my cutting machine to cut it from bronze metallic vinyl.

A gratitude plate

As we feel led throughout the month of November we’ll write our thanks on the plate.  We’re writing it in brown Sharpie so it won’t smear off but a little rubbing alcohol at the end of the month will return the plate to its original state.  If you don’t want to use a Sharpie, a dry erase marker will work too but it will smudge if rubbed.

A gratitude plate

I love seeing what the kids come up with as they seek to be thankful for their many blessings and I can’t wait until the gratitude plate is covered with lots of different writing from the kids and adults in our home.

How do you encourage your kids to be grateful?

Love this “Give Thanks” plate! Great idea! Rather than using rubbing alcohol at the end of the month to remove the “blessings” your family is thankful for, you might want to keep it, writing the year on the back, to look at in 10, 20,30 years, when your kids are older, and also using it each year in your fall decorations.
