Since Tate’s not yet at the chocolate bunny stage and I needed something fun for her Easter basket, I sewed a little fabric bunny complete with a DIY rattle that’s repurposing at its best!
The inspiration came from this adorable pattern and I just made a few small changes.
I used soft blue chenille on the back and an orange and blue Amy Butler print on the front, both scraps from my fabric stash. I cheated and machine-sewed the face rather than taking the time to hand stitch it. I stitched a simple X for the nose and used a decorative stitch to create little eyes.
Tate loves things that make noise so I inserted a makeshift rattle in the bunny, using items I found around the house. I filled an old plastic lotion lid with tiny beads and sealed it with heavy duty tape. It held together well and won’t be a hazard unless the bunny loses some of its stitching and the rattle falls out.
My favorite detail on this little fabric bunny is the appliqued orange heart.
I’m sure Tate will love her Easter bunny and it will provide her with another thing to chew on, her favorite hobby these days!

You are awesome – those kids of yours have THE BEST MOM!!!!
You’re amazing! I LOVE that print!
Oh, it’s not desperation – it’s re-purposing. Love it. I’d like one too.
Great idea to machine sew the face! I’ve been thinking all day long how I would chisel out the time to embroider the face on Brystol’s bunny.
Love it!
So cute!! I will have to make one now! Stopping by from sassy sites
