Here’s a little something you might not know about me. I’m a sometimes soccer coach. When the regular coach is unavailable, I sub in as the assistant. I’ve done it for years … and it’s definitely not my gifting. I’m a bit too competitive and I lack patience but I can smile and put on my coach hat for a few games a season. And then I gladly hand the whistle back to the real coach. This year, my sideline technique may be the same but I’ll be coaching with a bit more style, sporting my club ID card on a new DIY duct tape lanyard.
I followed the directions found here for a DIY duct tape lanyard and used some of the paint splattered patterned duct tape that Duck Brand sent me. Isn’t the colorful pattern cute?
The lanyard pattern is really easy to follow and would be a great craft for kids to make as well. Kids that have to wear ID badges at school could make their own lanyards with patterned duct tape to suit any theme or spirit day!
The process involves simply folding duct tape, wrapping it around a ring or key chain finding, and adding a bit more duct tape to secure it all in place.
I may not love the assistant coaching role but I’m actually looking forward to my first coaching stint of the soccer season just so I can wear my new lanyard {wink}!
