Monogrammed Paint Dipped Glassware

I shared this post last week at The CSI Project {posted for the theme The Color Orange}, and wanted to share it here too.  Monogrammed paint dipped glassware is a fun and simple project and a great way to update an old glass jar or bottle and add a little color and personalization to your decor.  {If you have an aversion to orange, this could obviously be done with any color.}

monogrammed paint dipped glassware

To make this monogrammed paint dipped glassware, start with glassware of some sort.  I used a cork-topped bottle that I’ve had forever but you could use any type of bottle or jar, even an old spaghetti sauce jar or jam jar.  Be aware that if your glassware has any type of texture {like mine}, the texture will be enhanced by this process.  If you prefer a smooth looking surface, pick a smooth bottle.

Apply your initial {or even a short word} on the glass using a regular letter sticker found at any craft store.  A large letter will have a bigger impact but make sure whatever sticker you choose fits on the jar the way you want it to.

Pour your paint of choice into a disposable bucket or container.  I used leftover wall paint for this project.  Wall paint, rather than craft paint, tends to be thicker and will adhere to the glass a bit better but craft paint will also work.

Dip the glassware into the bucket, making sure the paint goes above the letter sticker.

Lift the bottle or jar out of the paint and hold it over the bucket until the heavy dripping stops …

… and then place it on wax paper to dry.  Once the dripping has slowed significantly, carefully peel away the sticker.  If you leave the sticker in place until the paint has fully dried, when you remove it, it’ll peel away half your painted surface.  Trust me on this one.

Let dry for 24 hours or until the paint has dried completely {the drying time will vary depending on the thickness of the paint and the humidity in the air} and the project is complete.  You now have a cute monogrammed bottle or jar that will add a little jazz to your decor or make a fun gift for a friend!
