This year, Tate had a doll birthday party to celebrate being three and it was a great success in her three year old eyes. Despite the fact that a few of her friends were unable to make it, she had lots of fun and was so happy and chatty during her party. I love all the crafty details we put into this party and they all came together to create a really sweet time.
Tate’s favorite pastime is playing with dolls. It’s the thing she spends the most time doing and it only seemed right that she should have a dolly party to celebrate turning three.
Tate and Stella {the doll} got all decked out in their homemade matching birthday dresses {this fabric is just so cute!} …
… and we set up a snack table in the backyard. {I was so thankful for beautiful not-too-hot weather that allowed us to have the whole party outside.}
I kept the party very simple but added some fun themed details. The dollhouse shelf I rescued from the trash was the perfect backdrop for the snack table and a fun way to display the birthday cake.
I made a very simple round cake, iced with pink frosting and embellished with fondant paper dolls.
The little doll face candleholders looked so cute perched on top and added a fun pop of color to the cake.
I served doll face vanilla wafers …
… crackers with cheese cut in paper doll shapes …
… goldfish served in bottle-shaped favor boxes from the dollar store, and grapes.
The kids drank water from duct-tape wrapped bottles {my go-to idea for easy party decor} …
… with paper straws decorated with “you’re a doll” tags.
The party guests all brought dolls with them and we gave the babies fun little homemade paper hats to wear. To make the hats, I rolled scrapbook paper into a cone shape and hot glued a pom pom on top and ribbon ties to the inside.
I didn’t plan any major special activities. Instead, I brought out high chairs, doll cradles and beds, a car, and other doll-related toys and just let the kids play.
I also had some paper dolls for coloring.
The kids ate snacks and cake at a shady little table set under a tree while the moms eavesdropped on their cute little conversations.
It was such a sweet party and suited Tate’s personality and interests perfectly!
When the party ended, Tate’s friends went home with their little dolls in the dollhouse boxes.
Tate’s party was my favorite kind: sweet, simple, and full of things she loves!
