Stitched Doll Party Favors

I recently shared the doll house gable boxes that I made for Tate’s doll birthday party and now I want to show you what went home in those boxes.  The kids all took home stitched doll party favors that were personalized, with just a few extra details, to look like them!

To make these stuffed fabric dolls, I used the basic Black Apple doll pattern at Martha Stewart, a pattern I’ve used before for my girls and one with simple details that I just love.

I made a few changes {I made wider arms and legs because they were so much easier to work with and put shorts on the boy dolls rather than dresses}, dressed them all in coordinating party colors, and added some simple embellishments to make each doll a little unique.

Some dolls got coordinating buttons sewn on the front of their fabric dresses …

… some got colorful felt bows stitched into the hair …

… and some were decked out with wide ric rac trim stitched near the bottom hem.

The boy dolls were dressed in shorts and gingham shirts, some also embellished with buttons.

I cut the hair differently on all of the dolls, attempting to mimic the hair color and style of each party guest.  Adding the little embellishments and making the hair match the guests was a little over the top, maybe, but also so fun on a creative level.

And at the end of the party the dolls all went home with their new owners in their cute little embellished gable box doll houses.

The details for this doll birthday party were such a labor of love for my last baby and I had such a great time adding so many creative components to the party!  I hope, despite how young Tate is, that it might be memorable!
