Vinyl Decorated Chargers {Mother’s Day Inspiration}

With Mother’s Day right around the corner, I’ve been pondering ideas for how we might celebrate the day.  My Mom now lives a block away from us so I love to share some of the day with her and some of the day with my own little {or not so little} family.  Since my Mom will be invited over for at least one meal, I thought it would be fun to decorate our table with some very girly, very pink, very Mother’s Day-ish vinyl decorated chargers!

To make these pretty chargers, you’ll need something for your base {you can use chargers or regular plates in any color}, vinyl, and clear plastic plates {I bought mine at the dollar store}.

To make the vinyl chargers, I found a doily pattern in the online Silhouette store and downloaded it, then sized it to fit my plate and cut four.

The hardest part of this whole charger project is picking all those tiny pieces out of the doily pattern …

… but I have a trick.  This isn’t exactly technical but I use a pin to pick out tiny pieces of vinyl.  I poke it in and those little pieces pop right out.  Not a bad trick, huh?

With the pieces all picked out, you can really see how pretty the doily pattern is.

I used transfer paper to apply it to the plate …

… and covered it with a clear plastic plate.  {The food will be served on the clear plastic plate, protecting the vinyl below.}

This vinyl decorated charger makes a sweet and feminine place setting, perfect for a Mother’s Day lunch or brunch.  And when Mother’s Day is over, you can simply peel the vinyl off and have your original charger back.

Are you ready for Mother’s Day?  If not, we’ve got you covered.  This post is part of a Mother’s Day Blog Hop!

 Every day for the next week or so, a different blogger will be sharing a Mother’s Day post!
And it’ll all end on April 27th with an awesome giveaway being shared on every one of the blogs.  One winner will walk away with a $200 Visa gift card plus two beautiful jewelry prizes!  Don’t miss it!

Silhouette America provided me with the vinyl product seen in this post but I did not receive further compensation and all opinions are my own.
