Painted Cheese Platter {with Chalkboard Coating}

I have the cutest painted cheese platter to share with you today.  But it’s not your average cheese platter … the surface can be written on with chalk!

This project started with a thrifted wooden cheese plate with a glass dome.  It was a total steal at $1.98!  I loved the shape and size of it but didn’t like the dated wooden base.  It was screaming for a little makeover!

To transform my little cheese platter, I used DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paint in Desert Turquoise and DecoArt Clear Chalkboard Coating {my favorite product!}.
I painted the wooden base turquoise then covered it in the chalkboard coating …

… turning it into a turquoise chalkboard surface!  Isn’t that fun?

Just a note: the paint isn’t food-safe so I placed the cheese on a circle of parchment paper before placing it on the painted plate.

Not bad for $1.98 plus a bit of paint, huh?  I love the way it turned out.  Perfect for the next wine and cheese night!

DecoArt provided the products used in this project but I didn’t receive any further compensation.  All opinions are my own.

    I’m so glad you did the side view, because I thought it was a hamburger without a bun and couldn’t figure out what the words had to with it. I don’t get out much 🙂 Love the plate, so cute!

    I love the chalkboard cheese plate! Perfect for entertaining in an rustic but elegant style. I am sitting here trying to think about how to make one big enough to fit all my favorite cheeses!
