This year, we’re celebrating Luke’s tenth birthday with a party at the nickel arcade and these video game cupcakes will take center stage.  These fun cupcakes are topped with fully edible candy game controllers and would be perfect for a video game party, an arcade party, or a game truck party … any party where gamers are gaming!

To make these video game cupcakes, you’ll need a video game controller candy mold {affiliate link}, white candy melts, and small candies or sprinkles to use for buttons and knobs.

Lay the mold flat and place the candies and sprinkles in the appropriate spots in the mold.  I used red candies for some buttons and skinny sprinkles for others.

Melt the candy melt according to package instructions {I place it in the microwave in thirty second increments until fully melted} and pour the melted chocolate into the mold.  Be sure to pour the chocolate gently so you don’t disturb the candy placement.  Gently tap the mold to remove any air bubbles and place it in the fridge or freezer until the chocolate is firm.

When the chocolate has hardened completely, gently pop the candy out of the mold being careful not to break the candy pieces.  Use a knife to gently scrape away any ragged edges.

Place on top of a colorful cupcake {storebought is fine} for a fun dessert that’s just right for a video game or arcade party!

Want another easy idea for this candy mold?  Package the candy game controllers in little bags with ribbon for a sweet themed party favor!
