Ford provided the vehicle to travel to Oklahoma City for this coffee shops post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A handful of times a year, I drive up to visit my college kids in Norman, Oklahoma, and we often drive the extra minutes north to hit up Oklahoma City. I love that city: the restaurants, the culture of the downtown area, and the coffee shops. For those of you that also like to spend time in that area, I thought I’d share some of the best coffee shops in Oklahoma City. If you know of some coffee spots that aren’t on this list, share them in the comments section so I can try some new places on my next trip! {And if you’re a little south of Oklahoma City, be sure to check out my favorite coffee shops in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex!}
My older kids and I share a deep love of coffee {all my kids love it, actually, and I think the love might be built solidly into our DNA} and one of our favorite things to do together is to hang out at coffee shops. Kennedy and I are determined to try every coffee shop that crosses our path and we made a big dent in our list during my latest trip to Oklahoma City.
We were lucky enough to get to cruise around Oklahoma City in a ruby red 2019 Ford Edge Titanium AWD {the perfect color for Sooner Nation}, equipped with eight cup holders which makes it pretty ideal for a coffee tour {and I’m pretty sure they were all in use at one point during the weekend}.
The Ford Edge is such a great ride! With dual zone climate control and cooling front seats, we kept comfortable on the warm days even with a coffee in hand.
This was my first time driving a vehicle with a hands-free lift gate and I realized what an awesome convenience that is. With coffee in one hand and shopping bags in another, it’s one of those features that just makes life so simple. No grappling for the handle while juggling five or six bags!
We set cruise control on the highway, enjoyed the benefits of the rain sensing wipers during a few showers and blind spot detection during traffic, and cruised around the city, getting amazing gas mileage in this sweet little ride. We were all sorry to give this car back when our trip was up and it’s definitely on my list of favorites for design, functionality, and safety.
Want to see where this car took us? Check out some of the amazing coffee shops we tried on this trip and on previous ventures into OKC.
The Best Coffee Shops in Oklahoma City
Whether you’re looking for craft coffee or a fun seasonal drink like a lavender latte, Clarity Coffee is the perfect spot to sit and relax or spend some time on your laptop. The shop is aesthetically pleasing but simplistic in decor and the coffee is delicious. They have a secret menu {I want to try everything on it!} and even host classes and events. Be sure to check out the website for a list of upcoming events!
If you think cupcakes pair perfectly with coffee {who doesn’t?}, you’ll want to stop in at Cuppies and Joe. Set in an old house with comfortable rooms, cozy couches, and a huge fireplace, this coffee spot is overflowing with comfort. They feature all the favorites plus seasonal drinks and delicious frozen hot chocolate. And if you’re choosing a cupcake? The Bangarang {a chocolate cupcake with mocha frosting} is my top pick.
I’m a huge fan of Leaf + Bean, a small shop with great ambience and a sweet community feel. It’s the perfect place to meet a friend {I took my bestie there when she was in town} and curl up on the couch for an afternoon chat session. I love the blue cups, I love the big couch, and I love the coffee. It’s a total win. As they say on the website: Good coffees. Good peoples. Good vibes. And I’d have to agree.
Elemental advertises coffee in its purest form and this is true. Elemental has its coffee game all figured out. You can stop in for the perfect brew, delicious eats {avocado toast, anyone?}, and you can even sign up for a coffee subscription so Elemental Coffee can be delivered right to your door. Is that full service or what?
Stitch Cafe has a couple of different locations in Oklahoma City. The Bricktown location is tucked inside a building, and honestly, a little tricky to find. This location has a boho feel to it with plants placed throughout and comfy leather couches for relaxing. The West Village location is my favorite and works with Plant Shoppe which is an ideal combination. You can grab a latte and then sit down and make a little succulent planter … the perfect way to spend an afternoon.
Classen Coffee Co. is housed in an old white building with an industrial feel and I actually love the way it’s set up inside. We didn’t stay, just grabbed some coffee and headed for the next stop, but I’d love to go back when I can hang out a bit. For those that are in a hurry like we were, Classen has a drive through so you can pop in for a cappuccino before heading to the next event of the day.
Neighborhood Jam is actually a restaurant with three locations {Norman, Tulsa, and OKC} but it has to be included because the Sam Elliott signature latte is amazing! It’s a latte made with sasparilla and topped with a smoky salt and it’s a must-have alongside brunch. And speaking of brunch, I ate the best eggs benedict of my life there! The Westside Benny with cream cheese, lox, hollandaise, and tomato caper salsa is to die for. Be prepared for a wait if you go on the weekend. The good news? It’s worth the wait!
Kitchen 324 is another great place to go for a meal but coffee is always an option. While they have an all-day menu, their brunch is a favorite of mine … and you can’t have brunch without coffee, right? They also have a craft bakery {I believe they provide baked goods for Clarity Coffee} so you can enjoy a flaky pastry alongside their curated coffee. If you love a mocha, try theirs … it’s made with housemade chocolate syrup that definitely takes it up a notch.
I love the cane sugar latte at Coffee Slingers {it’s just the right amount of sweet} and I’m pretty partial to the ambience as well. The rustic industrial style is simple but I love the concrete floors, the plants, and the colorful glass art in the windows.
The Jones Assembly isn’t exactly a coffee shop. It’s a restaurant and a concert venue but it has to be included because if you’ve always wanted your face on a latte, this is the place! We had brunch there to celebrate Kennedy’s last birthday and the portrait they put on her latte was a fun twist on the regular drink. If you want your face on your coffee, you’ll need to upload a photo to the app so come prepared.
Aurora is also a full-service restaurant {there seems to be a theme here} but you can also pop in for a coffee from the craft coffee bar then wander through the area or hang out in their dog-friendly backyard. I love that Aurora supports local purveyors … and how cute is that menu board?
There are so many more coffee shops in Oklahoma City but that should give you a great starting point. I’d love to hear what you think of these spots, which coffee shop you like the best, and what your favorite coffee drink is!
