Sweet and Sour Crockpot Ribs

I made my favorite rib recipe tonight and thought I’d share the recipe here because it’s a great one!  These sweet and sour crockpot ribs are always a hit in our home!  They’re fall-off-the-bone tender and the flavor is delicious.  Throw them in the slow cooker in the morning and you’ll have a delicious, hearty meal ready at dinner time!  And it’s a meal the whole family will love!

Sweet and Sour Crockpot Ribs

2 cups brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/3 cup water

1/2 cup white vinegar

2 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons ketchup

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

3 pounds meaty pork ribs, cut into 2 or 3 rib sections

To make the sauce for the ribs, mix the brown sugar and flour in a saucepan. Add the water and stir. Add the next five ingredients. Heat and stir until boiling and thickened.

Layer the ribs in a slow cooker, spooning the sauce over each layer. Cover. Cook on low for 10 to 12 hours or on high for 5 to 6 hours until the ribs are very tender. {I baste the ribs regularly throughout the day so they finish with a thick glaze.}

I like to serve the ribs with rice on the side because the extra sauce is delicious spooned over white or brown rice.  Enjoy!

    Hello,

    Do I put the remining sauce on the ribs after layering them? Or put it to the side for later? The sauce tastes delicious so far.

    Thanks for the recipe!

      Yes, I put all of it on and then I keep basting them throughout the cooking time.
