Sweet and Salty Snack Mix

I shared a cute owl-themed Halloween printable this week and now I want to show you a fun way I used it in my own home … and the delicious sweet and salty snack mix that went along with it!

sweet and salty snack mix

I love combining sweet and salty flavors together and I like to create themed snacks for my kids.  Sometimes it’s a stretch {you know what I mean} but they don’t care.  They’re just happy to have something special to eat.

I served this sweet and salty snack mix on a snack bar with my owl printable and I wanted it to have a bit of an owl theme to it.

I mixed regular popcorn with a large handful of rolos {they look a bit like big old owl eyes if you really use your imagination … smile} …

… and added another large handful of reese’s pieces.  Want to know the rationale behind the pieces?  I just wanted something with yellow in it.  Can any of you relate to my snack methods?

I mixed it together and tossed in a few eyeball sprinkles to really give it an owlish feel.

Served in paper bags, this snack mix was a huge hit with my kids.

Add some colorful soda or another favorite drink …

… tape up the owl printable, and you have a super simple and super adorable snack bar for the kids.

Wouldn’t your kids love to come home after school and find this special snack bar waiting for them?
