One Piece of Furniture :: Three Ways to Use It

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Sauder. The opinions and text are all mine.

Do you think of furniture as versatile? Or do you use it only for its original design? I often get stuck in the second group but in recent years I’ve tried to get a bit more creative about the way I use pieces of furniture in our home. I have a dresser in my dining room that holds extra dishes and heirloom linens and an end table that acts as a sewing table for my little one.

I recently bought a sewing cabinet and I want to show you how easy it is to use one piece in three different ways.

three uses for furniture

1. A Sewing Station

If you read this blog regularly, you might have seen that I recently ditched my old sewing table and replaced it with a sewing/craft cart from Sauder, forming a new {and convenient} sewing station in my bedroom.

I love this new sewing spot, especially the fact that I can close everything up inside the cabinet and hide the sewing mess that used to litter the area.

This piece of furniture has such great functionality and since I got it, I’ve often considered moving it to another location for a different purpose or purchasing another one altogether.

2. An Art Station

My eight-year-old daughter has been trying to convince me to move the cabinet into her room so she can use it as an art station. And it really does make the perfect art station! The extended tabletop is perfect for a big art project or for accommodating more than one child at the table.

And the storage inside makes easy work out of organizing all those small craft supplies like scissors, glue sticks, pipe cleaners, and pencil crayons.

3. A Desk

I also love the idea of using this sewing cabinet as a small desk. It’s the perfect place to sit and write a note or pay the bills.

The organizers inside keep stamps, pens, notecards, and bills in easy-to-find spots. And I don’t know about you but having everything at my fingertips means I’m much more likely to sit down and jot a real note to a friend.

Have I inspired you to think outside the box? It’s fun to try to think of furniture in a new light and look for unique ways to use it. For more repurposed inspiration, check out my Upcycled and Repurposed pinterest board.
