This Texas gift basket was developed as a sponsored post for Market Street. #MarketStreetTX
I love the state pride trend that’s been sweeping blogs and stores. In a state like Texas, that trend isn’t new. We’re a little passionate about this great state and all the awesome products that are made here. Last week, I shopped at Market Street and put together a fun state-inspired gift basket! Wouldn’t it make the perfect gift for a new neighbor or a sweet going-away present for someone leaving?
Market Street is a store that I love. I often meet friends there for coffee or breakfast and enjoy sitting on The Terrace while the kiddos run around on the shaded outdoor playground.
And Market Street is the perfect place to find products made in Texas. Those products are marked with small Texas tags below the price on the shelves, making it so easy to find them. All month long Market Street is celebrating products made or grown in Texas, including BBQ sauce, bakery items, beer, wine, and more. On July 12 and 13, Market Street will also host the Best of Texas Expo where dozens of Texas items can be sampled throughout the store.
For my Texas basket, I bought a beautiful melamine plate, some fun polka dot napkins, and a few made-in-Texas food items …
… and packaged them in a basket …
… with a simple string art tag. This tag is so easy to make and can obviously be adapted for any state.
To make one, cut a 1/2 inch piece of wood into a tag that’s a good size for your basket. My tag is approximately 4×6 inches. To make the state shape, I cut a piece of vinyl using my cutting machine. You could also trace a template printed off your computer.
Place finishing nails at equal distances all around the shape and be sure they’re hammered in to the same length. I just eyeballed mine and even have a few nails that are crooked but it won’t make much difference in the end.
Remove the vinyl and begin wrapping thread around the nails. If you’re not sure exactly how to begin, you can find a string art tutorial online.
Continue wrapping until you’re pleased with the depth and the look …
… then tie the tag onto the front of the gift basket.
So simple and it makes the perfect finishing touch for this state-inspired gift basket!
If you’re local, don’t miss the Best of Texas Expo at Market Street!
This is adorable! I think I’ll make one to put on the wall!
