Wire and Bead Cross Pendant

Years ago {well before I started writing this blog}, I made and sold these wire and bead cross pendant necklaces.  They’re really easy to make and I thought I’d share the tutorial here.

To make the cross pendant, you’ll need solder wire, craft wire {22 or 24 gauge}, glass beads, and a chain for the pendant.

supplies for cross necklace

Cut a piece of solder wire approximately 24 inches long and twist it into a cross shape about two inches long {as seen below}.  Don’t worry about forming a perfect cross.  As you go, you can continue to bend and shape.

Wrap another piece of solder wire around the cross frame.

On the back of the cross, using needle-nose pliers, make a small loop to attach a long piece of thin wire onto the solder frame.

small wire wrap

Wrap wire haphazardly around the solder frame, adding beads as desired {just string them onto the wire and wrap tightly}.  When you get to the end, wrap the wire tightly a few times to hold it in place.  Once the wrapping is complete, bend the cross back to the shape you want {as you’re wrapping, it tends to get a bit out of shape}.

I love a monochromatic look but you could use lots of different colors for a fun rainbow cross as well.

Super easy, right?  And the best part?  Every cross is unique and whimsical … and they make perfect gifts!
