Upcycled Baking Sheet Magnetic Letter Board

I love easy, budget-friendly repurposed ideas that are also useful and this upcycled baking sheet magnetic letter board is the latest one.  It looks really cute, uses upcycled materials, and the kids can play with it and practice their spelling and reading.  A total win in the project department, right?

To make this upcycled letter board, all you need is a new or old baking sheet, old scrabble letters {the vintage ones are my favorite}, and magnetic tape. 

A local thrift shop or dollar store is the best place to find a baking sheet {just be sure it’s actually magnetic} and old scrabble letters or game tiles can usually be found at a thrift store as well.  The magnetic tape {affiliate link} can be purchased online or at a local craft store.

To turn the scrabble pieces into magnets, simply attach small pieces of magnetic tape to the back of each tile.  To make them last longer, you may want to add a dab of hot glue instead of relying on the adhesive on the tape.  That adhesive tends to wear down fairly easily and the magnets will eventually pull off the tiles.

To attach the magnetic letter board to the wall, drill small holes through the baking sheet, large enough to accommodate a screw, and screw the baking sheet directly onto the wall. 

I would recommend hanging it low enough that young ones can easily reach it but be sure to keep it out of reach of really young ones that may put the scrabble tiles in their mouth.

The kids can have fun practicing spelling words and leaving messages for other family members.
