I received a copy of this book in order to write this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
It’s no secret that I love salvaging treasures from trash piles or thrift stores and turning them into something fabulous {or just giving them a makeover}. There’s something about a great repurposed project that gets my blood flowing. And reading an entire book about those types of projects is about as good as it gets. Salvage Secrets Design & Decor is an upcycler’s dream! An entire book filled with salvaged projects and decor made from reclaimed materials.
The book is full of inspiration! Author Joanne Palmisano told me she’s been interested in salvaged materials since she was a kid. She’d dig in the backyard for old bottles and create masterpieces from the items in her father’s junk closet.
And now she has an entire book filled with brilliant projects made from repurposed and reclaimed items! I added these necktie flags to my project list …
… and made a mental note to find an old metal office chair that I can transform into a table.
This book encouraged me to see items in a new light but it also left me feeling inspired and motivated to step out of the box and really transform reclaimed items into something amazing. Who would have imagined turning part of an old carousel into a headboard? Wouldn’t you love to have that bit of history in your bedroom?
In addition to this beautiful book {and the first}, Joanne works on design projects with DIY Network and has an 8-part online video series on salvage design. Hmmm, that might be my dream job!
I love color in my home and this book has lots of examples of bright, warm colorful decor …
… inside and out. I’ve been leafing through the pages and drooling over the inventive ideas.
And I’m sure after seeing that little preview, you’d love to get your hands on a copy as well! Well, you’re in luck!

I’ve completed a few but I still have a garage full of treasures that need to be done. My favorite is my coffee table which I’m doing another redo on right now.
I turned a busted-up old wooden ladder into a black lacquered, tiered collectibles display shelf.
I made a table out of a tree stump, a side table out of an old cart, cork board from an old frame and many others.
Awesome projects! So fun!
One of the projects I have planned is to use a tabletop from the roadside to make a sign.
The book looks so cool! Thanks for the giveaway!
i have several i am trying to work on (new crafter) but for just one, i have numerous frames with no glass that i am turning into message boards and display pieces.
i have also recently collected TONS of shells on our local beach and am working on quite a few projects with those!
How did I not know about this book? How did I not know about this Blog??? I love repurposing and using vintage finds in creative ways.
I usually repurpose fabric… no piece of clothes/fabric is ever wasted in my house… everything is transformed into something else. Thanks for the chance to win!!
