Did you see the whimsical gnome pom pom cupcake toppers I shared yesterday?  When I was making the gnomes, I couldn’t resist making another version: reindeer pom pom cupcake toppers.  There’s just something so cute about reindeer.  These would be adorable for any holiday party you’re throwing this year!

To make these little reindeer cupcake toppers, you’ll need brown yarn, a small pom pom maker {or you can use the fork method or another method to make the pom poms}, scissors, red and brown cardstock for the nose and antlers, and wooden skewers or lollipop sticks.

I used yarn that I had in my stash and it had a bit of a weird twine texture to it.  I was worried it wouldn’t work well for the pom pom but it actually gave the reindeer a bit of a messy appearance that I love.  I think an ombre or variegated yarn would also give a really cute final result.

First, use the pom pom maker and the yarn to create one pom pom for each cupcake topper.

These pom poms are about an inch and a half to two inches across.  I wouldn’t make them much bigger than that or they’ll be too large for the cupcakes.

I used my Cricut machine to make the embellishments on these cupcake toppers but if you don’t have a cutting machine, you could also cut the nose and antlers by hand.  A hole or circle punch would work well for the nose.

{If you do have a Cricut, you can use the reindeer file I created in Cricut Design Space.}

The final step before assembly is to break or cut the skewers to a shorter size.  If you’re using lollipop sticks, the length is just right.

Use a hot glue gun to assemble the cupcake toppers.

Place a dab of glue at the bottom of each antler and on the back of the nose and hold them in place on the pom pom until the glue sets.

{If you want to add a little variety to the cupcake toppers, you could use brown or black noses for some reindeer and red for only one.}

Use another dab of hot glue to attach the skewer or lollipop stick to the bottom of the brown pom pom and then add these little reindeer cupcake toppers to your favorite homemade or storebought cupcakes!

    I’m obsessed with all things pom poms! I’m in the process of making myself a pom pom wreath, but you literally have to make a bajillion pom poms! These are adorable and I will be making some for sure!
