My yarn stash has been in a terrible mess for the last year and I finally came up with a simple way to organize it with the space that I have. Here’s a tip for how to organize yarn.
This is truly how my yarn looked until last week. I was storing some of it in a basket and some in a bag and my naughty little puppy was getting into it at every opportunity. It slowly turned into a tangled mess. Yes, that’s a hanger entwined in it … I think I can thank my husband for that.
I don’t have a craft room so many of my craft supplies are stored in our large master closet. In order to keep it neat and tidy, I have to get a bit creative with storage. I’ve used hanging sweater caddies for a number of things in the house and decided a hanging caddy would also be a great way to organize my yarn.
I disentangled the yarn, rolled up the loose ends, and stored it all according to color.
It’s now so easy to see what I have in my yarn stash and it’s also easy to keep it organized and untangled.
Take a peek at a few other color coded organization ideas I’ve used in my home:

This is great. I’m afraid I have a stash that looks similar to your “before” photo – and I DO have a craft room! I’ll definitely be giving this one a try! Thanks for the tip. 🙂
