Ranch Cheese Ball

Last weekend I was volunteering in the children’s area at church and some thoughtful soul left a cheese ball in the volunteer lounge.  It was so delicious and I came home determined to recreate it.  This ranch cheese ball, with only three common ingredients, will be a new go-to snack for easy entertaining!

ranch cheese ball recipe

To make the cheese ball, you’ll need one and a half cups of shredded cheddar cheese {the finely shredded cheese mixes and covers better than a coarsely grated cheese}, two 8-ounce blocks of cream cheese, and 1-2 packets of dry ranch dressing.

ingredients for ranch cheese ball

With an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese until creamy and fluffy then add the dry ranch dressing mix and whip until blended completely.  One packet of dressing adds a nice ranch taste to the cheese ball but for a strong ranch flavor, add a second packet {or a partial packet}.

Stir in 1/2 cup of shredded cheese.  With your hands, form the mixture into a ball and roll in 1 cup of shredded cheese until the ball is covered completely.  At this point you can refrigerate the ball until party time or serve immediately.

Serve alongside a variety of your favorite crackers and be prepared for this savory cheese ball to disappear quickly!
