Quick Recipes :: Hot Buffalo Dip and Savory Dill Dip

I participated in this sponsored campaign on behalf of the One2One Network.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

It’s the season of entertaining and the best holiday recipes are quick recipes, right?  These quick and easy appetizers {hot buffalo dip and savory dill dip} are both super fast to whip up and delicious as well … but they’re also perfect for guests with dietary restrictions, like those with lactose intolerance. {1 in 10 adults report having lactose intolerance.  Lactose intolerance is a food sensitivity but unlike a milk allergy, lactose intolerance doesn’t mean dairy avoidance.}  Nothing should stop friends from enjoying the holiday season!

hot buffalo dip

To make hot buffalo dip, you’ll need 1 cup of Greek yogurt {be sure to use Greek for a thicker consistency}, 1 tablespoon Red Hot Wings sauce, and blue cheese crumbles.  Did you know the live and active cultures in yogurt help digest lactose, making them lactose intolerant-friendly?

ingredients for hot buffalo dip

Simply stir the yogurt and hot sauce together, then top with blue cheese crumbles.  Different people can handle different amounts of lactose so the blue cheese crumbles shouldn’t cause a problem {but they can also easily be left off without altering the flavor of the dip too much}.  Natural cheeses {cheddar, colby, monterey jack, mozzarella, swiss} only contain a small of lactose so you could choose to top the dip with one of those instead.

Serve with celery and carrots {or pretzels} and watch it disappear!

The savory dill dip is equally simple.  Both recipes are just perfect for last minute guests.

For the savory dill dip, you’ll need 1 cup Greek yogurt, 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley, 1 teaspoon dried dill, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, and salt to taste.

Mix the ingredients together and serve with fresh vegetables.  The refreshing, light taste is such a nice change from heavy holiday treats.

Even those with lactose intolerance can eat confidently this holiday season!  Most recipes just need a few tweaks or adaptions to make them friendly for those who are lactose intolerant.  The National Dairy Council has information, ideas, and recipes to help everyone enjoy the season and I have a few tips to pass on:

Try It.  Opt for lactose-free dairy milk and milk products {real dairy milk products without the lactose}.  They taste great and provide the same nutrients as regular dairy food.

Sip It.  Start with a small amount of milk daily and increase it slowly over several days or weeks to determine tolerance.

Stir It.  Mix milk with other foods, such as soups or cereal.  Blend it with fruit or drink it with meals.  Solid foods help slow digestion and allow the body more time to digest lactose.

Slice It.  Top sandwiches or crackers with natural cheeses that only contain small amounts of lactose.

Shred It.  Shred your favorite natural cheese onto veggies, pasta, or salad.  It’s an easy way to get the nutrients and benefits of dairy with minimal lactose.

Spoon It.  Enjoy easy-to-digest yogurt.  The live and active cultures help digest lactose.

Whatever you’re eating this holiday season, enjoy!
