I shared this project a few weeks ago on Ask Anna and I wanted to share it here with you in case you missed it! With Thanksgiving just around the corner, this simple DIY project serves as rustic decor and also doubles as a great reminder {and I know my family can always use that!}: a give thanks wood burned sign.
To make this sign you’ll need a wood slice {mine is storebought not salvaged but you could definitely head outside and trim a large slice off a piece of wood in the log pile}, a wood burning tool, an embossing stylus, and the text printed out in the size you’ll need and a font you like.
Hold the paper against the wood and go over the letters with the embossing stylus, pressing firmly. This will press the outline of the letters into the wood without leaving a permanent mark.
Heat the wood burning tool and go over the embossed letters. I used a thick tip and went over it a few times to get the look I wanted.
When the letters are finished, add simple dots or another decorative feature around the edge or any other embellishment that you like.
Just a few simple steps and you’ve got a sweet wood burned sign that will act as a great reminder for your family …
… and will make a perfect addition to a Thanksgiving centerpiece. And the best part? It’ll take less than twenty minutes to make!
