Gravy Tea April Fool’s Day Prank

I love to play April Fool’s tricks on my kids. Over the years I’ve tried many, many little pranks, hoping to fool my kiddos. It gets a little tougher as the kids get older because they’re suspicious from the minute they wake up.  This year I tried this gravy tea April Fool’s Day prank on Eli, my morning tea drinker.  It’s super easy to pull off and involves very little pre-planning.

When Eli woke up this morning I had some tea waiting for him. He often drinks hot tea in the mornings so I boiled the kettle for him before he woke up and had a tea bag ready, hoping he wouldn’t realize anything strange was going on. He was instantly suspicious but finally decided to taste the tea … and was he in for a nasty surprise! I had opened the tea bag the night before and switched the tea leaves with gravy mix {an idea found here}.  Once the gravy powder was inside the tea bag, I folded it back the same way and restapled it.  It looked just like an ordinary tea bag!

The gravy tea prank was awesome but my planned prank for Kennedy didn’t go quite as well. I had planned to place a colored tab in her bathroom faucet {like this} but couldn’t get the tap apart. Oh well, one successful prank isn’t bad, right?  What are you doing for April Fool’s Day?

Brilliant. I was at Anne’s last night for supper and I have to admit I took a sniff before sipping my tea.

If my husband was a tea drinker, I would be doing this one too! But he’s not, so I should pass it on to his family who drinks tea!
