Playgroup :: A Valentine Party

This morning, Luke and Lila’s playgroup came over for a Valentine party.  Sadly, this might have been the last one since the majority of the kids will go to kindergarten next year.  I can’t really think about that right now.

The kids all ate yummy {sweet} snacks …

… and then we made a little craft.  The moms painted the kids’ hands and we pressed them onto the back of clear plates to make hearts.  Easier said than done.  I may have shown a bit of impatience during this part of the party.  {We pressed the handprints onto the back of the plates so the front will remain food safe … we just used simple acrylic paint for the handprints.}

Playgroup :: a valentine party
Borrowing from the great ideas at One Charming Party, the kids played Tower of Love {stacking conversation hearts as high as they could} …

Playgroup :: a valentine party
… and Chopstick Pick Up {transferring small conversation hearts into a dish using only chopsticks}.  Both games were a hit with the kids.

Playgroup :: a valentine party
The valentine exchange was a highlight, and I even got a valentine from my friend, Cheryl.  How cute is this?  Pomegranate soda and a chocolate heart all packaged up with a tulle bow.

Playgroup :: a valentine party

We took the annual blue-couch-Valentine-party picture …

… and Tate and Jacob had to get in on the action too {despite Tate’s half-dressed state … she had just dumped a juice box all over her pants}.

Playgroup :: a valentine party
I’m sad that these playgroup days will be coming to an end … I think we may have to plan a few special occasions even after all the little punks go to school.

    As always it was a great party. I too cannot think about not having another Valentine’s party with these little guys… we may have to figure out a time to at least get a photo on the blue & white couch! 🙂
