Oliver + S :: Doll/Bear Carrier

If you follow Dukes and Duchesses on facebook you’ll know that I was sewing one final Christmas gift this weekend.  I made Tate a doll/bear carrier from the book Little Things to Sew.  {I love this book!  So far I’ve only sewn a bib and hats but I’m hoping to tackle more projects in the new year.}
This doll/bear carrier is a really fun project.  It goes together quickly and I know Tate will love carting her dolls around.
I used a bright fabric for the front {bought at Hobby Lobby} and paired it with coordinating fabric from the stash for the straps …

… and the lining.

The carrier has a cute lined pocket on the front for stashing small goodies {I’m sure Tate will use hers for treasures like pennies and lip balm}.

I used two different colors of buttons and sewed them on with orange thread just to make it a bit more childlike and whimsical.  The different button placements allow the carrier to adjust for different sized dolls.

I wish I could show you how it looks on little Tate … I’ll post a picture on facebook after Christmas.  In the meantime, this tangly-haired doll will have to model her part.

Did you sew any Christmas gifts this year?

    adorable. thanks for sharing. It is also nice to see that your daughter American Girl doll’s hair looks the same as my daughters. I am just glad she has enjoyed it. Is the doll Elizabeth?
